Overview
TDY Direct is a Next.js marketplace that helps DoD travelers find verified, furnished off-base housing near Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex for mid-term stays (30+ nights). We shipped traveler search with installation, dates, proximity, and amenity filters; live availability instead of request-and-wait; instant booking with transparent lodging rates; and host onboarding via List Your Property. Payments run on Stripe with Stripe Connect payouts so hosts receive funds through the platform. Checkout supports Non-Availability context for authorized off-base lodging, and travelers get an itemized lodging folio (room charges and applicable taxes) built for reimbursement workflows — alongside guides for cohorts, per diem, and travel policy.
Challenge
TDY travelers needed furnished homes that match real dates and DoD mid-term rules — not hotels or opaque crashpads — while hosts needed a clean way to list, get paid, and stay compliant with paperwork travelers can actually submit.
Solution
A full marketplace stack: Next.js product web, Supabase for auth and data, Stripe Checkout plus Stripe Connect for traveler payments and host payouts, live availability search, amenity and pet-friendly filters, host portal flows, and folio generation for reimbursement-ready documentation.
